History

AVM was originally founded as Knowles-Fisher Corporation in Gowanda, New York in 1939. We were engaged in the manufacture of cast bronze automotive heater water control valves and other cast and machined assemblies. A continuing product development program in the 1940s yielded the RTCO water valve concept that provided significant growth to the operation and is still in active production today.

At that time a new vacuum actuator line of products emerged. Subsequently, through continuous development efforts, we have grown to be the largest independent U.S. manufacturer of these devices.

In 1967, AVM Corporation purchased Knowles-Fisher Corporation and continued operating as Knowles-Fisher Division of AVM Corporation, while providing the capital support necessary for our rapidly expanding business.

In 1978 the Automotive Products Division name replaced the Knowles-Fisher name. With our operating headquarters and product development facilities located in Marion, South Carolina, we are providing strong abilities in development of engineered products, metal stamping, welding, brazing, plating, machining, assembly and testing; all with major emphasis on quality.

Location/Directions

Marion County, South Carolina has a sense of history, like the courthouse that dates back to 1853. Yet, it's a place where the sounds of children's voices in the parks and schoolyards tell a story of tomorrow - Marion is a vital and growing community.

Ours is an almost storybook town with the easy face of friendliness, tranquil rivers and lakes, far away from the average city's noise and crush. It's a nice place for a family to call home. And it's home to AVM.

AVM is committed to maintaining a safe, positive atmosphere throughout our company, therefore, we believe members of our AVM "family" should settle for nothing less when they arrive home at the end of the day. It's why you'll find our engineering and manufacturing emphases to include environmental and safety responsibilities; why we continue to build-in a higher standard wherever it's feasible, prudent, and in the best interests of our customers and ourselves; and it's also why we are active community members: contributing time, energy and financial support to the key economic, educational, and cultural programs in our community.
